"Heavenly Angels"

In Memory of my Father - a Spiritual connection to those that have passed before me.

This picture was taken one day as I was meditating on my back porch. As I opened my eyes, I looked up and saw the above cloud formation; I named "Heavenly Angels". God Bless!!

I just realized the date (11/13) - My 48th Birthday - WOW!! What a spiritual connection - Amazing!!

Universal Loving-Kindness Exercise

I found the universal loving-kindness exercise to be less effective than previous ones practiced.  I was focused and relaxed for the first five minutes, but after that my mind began to wonder. I think it was out of boredom and repeating the same four lines over and over. However, after completing the exercise it helped produce an affective shift from more negative emotions to more positive emotions.

The Integral assessment process provided a change to reevaluate myself.  I chose to develop my biological health. I have been in the action stage of my exercise plan for six months and now I need to focus on the maintenance stage.  I always seem to fail when it comes to motivation.  I will continue to work out 5-6 days a week, as well as eating healthier (3 small meals and 2 snack daily). By staying focused, I will have a greater outlook on life and feel better about me and my life in general.

Exercises or activities that I can implement to foster greater wellness in this area is meditation, prayer, and deep breathing as well as practicing forgiveness for myself and others.

  1. Michelle,
I am with you on your blog. I have been playing yo-yo with my weight for 2 years now. I lost 30 lbs and then let myself go got back to what I was before and so I decided to try again and lost 45 pounds. I have gained 15 of that back. It drives me crazy that I keep doing this to myself. I am a very motivating person but when I slip into depression it takes a hold of me like you would not believe. I don't know how long I would have gone doing this, but I am so glad that I am redirecting my attention to myself for a while so that I may be useful to help others out in the future.

  2. M, it may help to take it one step further and decide what specific actions can help keep you motivated. We often talk about the need to self-motivate, but rarely consider the internal and external actions that will support that need. For example, one of my clients simply couldn't stay motivated to walk the dog every day, even though it gave both of them needed exercise. I told her to look into the dog's eyes and voice the decision as to whether or not they would go for a walk. She began walking more, motivated by the fact she didn't want to tell the dog no!

  3. Great blog posting! I agree that attending to your physicall needs is one that many of use struggle with. I too have been on the roller coaster over the past six months. Loose then gain. Many times we get so wraped up in our everyday life that we forget how good it feels to not have the extra weight on us. I wish you the best of luck!
