"Heavenly Angels"

In Memory of my Father - a Spiritual connection to those that have passed before me.

This picture was taken one day as I was meditating on my back porch. As I opened my eyes, I looked up and saw the above cloud formation; I named "Heavenly Angels". God Bless!!

I just realized the date (11/13) - My 48th Birthday - WOW!! What a spiritual connection - Amazing!!

Unit 3: Well-Being

After reflecting on my optimal well-being, I realized as I get older the more aware and concerned I am about my personal well-being.  I wish I had this inner connection when I was younger; I wouldn't have so much work to do today - lol! However, now that my children are grown and out on their own, the home front has become every lonely.  This next step in my life allows time for me to focus on myself. Within the past five years, I moved to the south, started a new job, gone back to school, joined a gym and hired a personal trainer.  As of right now, I would have to say my physical well-being has increased from 0 to 7.  Although I have a lot of work to still accomplish, I am very pleased with my improvement. My spiritual well-being is a 5.  I use to attend church regularly before moving, therefore, I feel I do not have that spiritual connection I had 5 years ago.  As for my psychological well-being, I would say an 8.  I feel I am more connected with myself than ever before.  I have time to meditate, go to the park for walks, and listen to music; most important I have time for me!

Physical, spiritual, and psychological goals set to increase my personal well-being:

Physical:  continue to lose weight by increasing cardio and focus on toning my body through weigh training and yoga.

Spiritually:  locate a church.  Since moving south, I’ve stopped going to church and I miss that spiritual connection. Before moving I attended church regularly for years.

Psychological:  continue to learn more about the mind, body, spirit through reading and learning about myself. Which surprisingly I find interesting – Hm!!

To assist in implementing these goals into my life, I will continue to exercise, meditate, listen to my inner conscious and attending church as well as add new activities such as yoga.

I found the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century very relaxing and beneficial.  I felt myself nod off towards the end; if I would have had a blanket I would have fallen asleep. My mind did want to wander a few times but not enough to break my meditation state.  However, within minutes of getting up I felt regenerated.

  1. Michelle,

I also found the Crime of the Century exercise to be very relaxing. You have set some wonderful goals for yourself and I can see them working for me and other people as well. However; some clients would choose to forego church in that case I would reccomend that they try yoga, which you mentioned because, it is great for the mind, body, and the spirit.

    Take Care,
    Jen

  2. Great post Michelle, I love the picture you posted as a dedication to your father! And Happy belated! I have to say that while the Crime of the Century was relaxing the guided imagery was distracting. You have set some great goals. I think the most important thing to remember with this assignment that these are things week can use as reminders especially with the first of the year around the corner. These are goal we can set for the new year. As Jen mentioned church might not work for everyone but if it is what you need for yourself...Go right ahead!!! Stay Blessed and Take care!!!

  3. Michelle,

I too nod off at the end of "The Crime of the Century" relaxation. Because I am use to meditating, I release myself totally in the the process. It was beneficial to me because my mind was calm and my muscles relaxed.

Many people find meditation challenging because they are unable to remain focus and concentrate on the techniques. I too experienced this when I first started, but have master the techniques to some degree.

I normally take time out for myself (30 minutes per day) to reflect on my existence. I draw upon my spirituality in this process in search of peace and serenity.

    Beauty...:))
